A collection of images capturing the look and feel of the secret tunnel network that exists beneath streets of Liverpool. The Williamson Tunnels are a series of extensive subterranean excavations, of unknown purpose, in the Edge Hill area of Liverpool, England. They are thought to have been created under the direction of tobacco merchant, landowner and philanthropist Joseph Williamson between 1810 and 1840. These images were taken on two visits to both the Williamson Tunnels Heritage Centre, and also the sites of the Friends of Williamson Tunnels (FOWT) Both sites are available to visit and further information can be found online
